so I just got my MCAT score back from the may 7th test date and was pretty disapointed (27Q). I was wondering if I decide to retake it (opinions?) how will that negatively effect my application? if i submit AMCAS soon with the option of retaking MCAT selected will that help at all? I have a relatively good gpa at 3.83.

thanks.

I believe that schools won't consider you complete (look at you) until they have your new MCAT. You would of course be later than those who are complete in June or July, but earlier than those August and September MCAT takers. With your GPA I think you should be fine.

The important thing is doing whatever it takes to bring your MCAT up to hopefully 30+.

This is true, and what happened in my case. It does put you at a slight disadvantage but the most important thing is to get the score up. Study your butt off for the next couple weeks and try to take it as soon in July as possible.
