hey for 2013ers, how long did it take between when your LOR writer postmarked his letter to AMCAS and when AMCAS actually acknowledged/confirmed they received it?
Sorry for the poor grammar.

It has really varied, depending on which phase of the cycle... For one my letters, it took a few days, but it was sent in the very beginning of the cycle when AMCAS wasn't as busy. For the others, it took anywhere from a week to almost 2 weeks.

sorry i dont know/remember.
I just know that I had all my LORs ready to go EARLY on...like at least a month or two before AMCAS/AACOMAS opened up. You don't want to wait on a writer to pump out a LOR when it could potentially hold up your entire application.

My letters were at Interfolio first and I had them sent to AMCAS. It took a surprisingly long time for AMCAS to acknowledge they had received them...over 2 weeks for sure. Although last year was the pilot year, so hopefully they've become a bit more efficient this year, since now there are over 100 med schools using it.

I am getting a letter from a course that I am taking right now. And he won't write one until final grade for the class comes out in late May...

hmm...not too bad. But try to follow PedsBro's advice; Get everything squared away on Interfolio (or VirtualEvals) so when you are ready to apply, it's just a click away.

Thanks guys. One more question.
Can I send all my other letters early with my primary and then wait for this last LOR to be written, and send it in later? Does AMCAS require all your letters to be in at the same time?

not all schools participate in the AMCAS letter service. Only a handful did this past cycle (but then again it was the first time they tried it out). This means that you don't need all your letters when you send out the primary application from AMCAS. You can simply update AMCAS later on, then they will resend your application to reflect the additional LOR.

Just FYI, 114 schools are participating this year...the vast majority.
