Have any of you considered joining the circus? Just a thought... The work is very rewarding and far less demanding, which could be ideal for those who cant plan what to wear to interviews or cant seem to decide whether to have dreadlocks or not OR those who cant seem to figure out how to write a personal statement. You dont have to join a big circus either, skip Barnum and Baley and head straight for your shoddy local opperation.

Good lord. Not everyone is psychic, brilliant, and perfect. If you don't want to answer questions you perceive as "dumb," then don't answer them. But everyone has to get these answers from somewhere. If they don't ask, they won't find out, and I would think something titled "pre-allopathic forum at studentdoctor.net" would be an appropriate place to ask.

I agree 100%. As long as stuff is on topic (and interview appearance is most definitely on topic), then I don't see the problem.

can i have sparkley tights?
what are your hours of operation?
health care plan?
do i get a pet liger?
send me a application buddyroo PM me for my email
(this seems like a good " what will u do if u dont get in this yr" backup answer & option!)

I hate to be "that guy"...wait, actually, I don't.

That being said, I think anyone who would like to enter the medical field, yet fails to spell the word "operation" correctly should apply to the Cornell School of Clownery as a backup plan.

Yeah I've always wanted to wear tight a$$ tights with my package highly visible will I was swinging in the air. I could also hang out with the other freaks cause I need a freak a leak.

It's easy to become irritated by the number and quality of questions asked..But I think that, to a degree, it's important to have some patience with others who need help..I know that I am no admissions officer, and I cannot always find all of the answers to the questions that I have..Hence, I'm immensely grateful for each and single every SDNer who has ever given me help with the the med. school process by answering my questions...whether those questions be about my personal statement, capitalizing certain info. on my AMCAS, or about the process in general....They did not judge my questions or make negative comments..

Have a bit of a heart and give certain SDNers some slack....

Just a thought..

thanks docjolly.

OP and all: When you become a doctor, patients are going to ask you questions. And you will be obligated to answer them fairly and helpfully, not roll your eyes and say, "What a dumb question, I can't believe you didn't know that already, why didn't you hit Google and find out the answer yourself."

And with that, I shall crawl away to a dark, dank corner, where I shall promptly assume the fetal position. Upon reaching this juncture, I may or may not simply perish thanks to your boundless laziness and my newly-broken heart.

Can we next start a thread on the necessity of apostrophes, and how to spell?

Aye! Me heart is full of joy with the first sip of mead!

I agree, everyone has questions and no question is dumb if it is something a pre-med needs to know. This forum is for questions of all types. Those who feel they are above everyone else need not to answer or even look at those post. I havn't been on much because of the arrogent SDN'ers that have been showing up on here. I wouldn't want to even be friends with people who can't be nice enough to help out those who are just starting or at the end of the journey to applying to medical school. I think alot of SDN'ers need to realize being a doctor isn't about being above others, yet it is about fulfilling a desire inside of you to help others and be a good person. Those who can't even answer "dumb questions" are in for a ride because I'm sure many people will ask what you consider dumb questions once you become a doctor. Remember without those people you won't get paid. They are in essence giving you a paycheck. BE NICE! You were once new to all this as well.

i wanted to be a clown when i was younger but no one ever takes me seriously when i tell them that, esp my interviewers!

Sounds like you need a couple days of vacation from SDN. Although some questions seem more frivolous than others, this is an appropriate forum for them (usually).

MEAD FOR ALL OF SDN
aye tis a jolly ship to ask thee questions!
a vacation indeed for the OP to the Spaniards i say!
ARGGGG i be jacking the OP's chinese pottery!

You know, a stint in the circus might just be the thing you need to set you apart from the other medical school applicants. Go do the circus for a year and then reapply. If I'm not mistaken, wasn't there a girl a couple of years ago who worked as a clown, applied to med school and was accepted almost everywhere because she was so unique?

Laugh it up OP (must be a gunner).
