As much as I like helping people do well on the DATs and giving advice to the best of my knowledge, I just question how some people are so kind and willing to post actual DAT questions (not word for word) on SDN benefitting, of course, future DAT test takers who I remind you, are competing for YOUR spot (oh and if anybody cares, MINE!!!!!) in the limited space for dental school. I just find it interesting especially those who did average but not stellar would even give others a chance to score better than them. There are other ways to help, such as, recommending others to study from certain books which is fine, but posting questions on here, telling what kind of passages on RC giving them a chance to increase their background knowledge, etc. is really like shooting yourself in the foot.

Agreed, I did post yesterday with a full review of my stuff... and did comment on how people were PMing me asking for specific questions! I gave some general info...like i got a picture, but i wasn't about to even say of what!

I did say I was frapped because at this point frap is so well known it doesnt even matter....

I think for the sake of fairness everyone should kind of be very general when they speak about it... and I think people shouldn't ask for specifics... its just kind of rude...

This is exactly the reason why the ADEA has every DAT taker sign a nondisclosure clause at the beginning of their exam. Discussion of any questions appearing on the DAT is prohibited, by the ADEA, as well as SDN. It wouldn't be fair to any prior test takers if future takers have all the questions in advance.

i probably would imagine those who are giving advice have 100% confidence of getting in or already have gotten in 😛

i agree with dent2009 to some extent that posting the actual questions in regard to the DATs is unfair....

but you have to admit... everyone on this forum, even you and I, have helped others to get a better chance of scoring well on the DATs.... regardless if we like their methods... it's going to happen one way or the other.

I guess the only way that we can prevent this is to close down those individual threads. =)

Daydream,

I did the same thing as you after I took my DAT in early June. I put a full review of how I felt about each section overall and included that I got the ethics passage and the FRAP bio question. For those of you who had that test, letting people know that you had the FRAP question will not help out anyone even if they go read about what the technique is. You can answer the question without knowing what is it, you just have to utilize the knowledge you have and supplement that with the information provided in the question.

You would not believe some of the PM's i got asking exactly what type of questions I was talking about in regard to Bio having inference based questions and diagrams, etc. I did the same thing as you; I just told them that the pictures were related to the question and that the answers were not straightforward retrieval type answers, etc.

Once again, let me remind everyone that out of fairness for those who have already taken the DAT, please refrain from posting real DAT questions (I especially see this after an individual has taken the test and provides analysis on each section). This is also against the rules of ADEA and SDN.
