Hey everyone, ive never really posted but ive read i think every single post about the DAT (as well as GPA section...i have a 3.1 overall and a 3.0 science).
First of all, before I get to what EVERYONE is clicking to see..I want to thank everyone first.
I bought the blue book a year ago and read it once not planning to take the DAT for awhile. I picked it back up at the end of April and read it about 4-5 times before I was like "man this info aint so bad..why does everyone say this is such a hard test?" Well..I came across the SDN feeling confident. Then after reading the first couple posts my heart was dropping. "dont study the blue book for more then 3 weeks" "topscore, achiever, destroyer yadda yadda yadda". Ahhhh!!! So i bought topscore to see where I was at. I was getting 14-17s on each section the first time around. I was getting real scared that I wasent prepared. So I started searching more through the forums and decided i was going to study through the practice tests. So after spending the money on kaplan, topscore and then achiever (getting even lower scores on each successive test), I hit the books hard, 3-5 hours a day and really got into the specifics. There was no time to waste, august 24th was my test date.
About 40 days before the test I felt I needed to stop taking the practice tests and take them a few days before the test to see how I do (y'know..forget the questions and see how I do when i get back...). So I finally buckled down and bought the DAT Destroyer. Initially ignoring all of the people who didnt like it (or were..DUN DUN DUN possibly working for another DAT study guide maker).
But...there were plenty of people who supported the destroyer. And once you guys see my scores you will understand why I really like the destroyer. I read the book 5 times and also bought the "600 flash cards" which I only read once. The DAT destroyer was my main study guide.
Anyway thanks Nancy for your good lucks and confidence! Thank you two for making the DAT destroyer (im not sure if you both worked on it together).
Anyway I am content with my scores, i thought I did better on the GC, biology, and RC, and POSSIBLY the PAT (which btw i got 16-18s on the practice exams).
Here it is..i have butterflies writing it..
Standard Score Percentile
PAT 18 63.7%
QR 15 38.7%
RC 19 53.3%
Biology 20 85.5%
General Chem 19 70.7%
Organic Chem 23 92.9%
TS: 21 91.3%
AA: 19 73.5%
So an 18 is probably the best I can do on the PAT, i think i did the cubes perfectly, what brought me down was probobly the key holes and 3d folding. The top-end-front projections I think i did well on. The angle ranking i probably got 2-3 wrong.
The QR I am so mad at, i was mentally exhausted after the RC (and the rest of the test) that I ran out of time 20 questions through it and had to guess on the last 20...It sucks I know...2 of my RC paragraphs were not that bad, but I got one on spinal cord anatomy as the last one and that one was def tough.
I thought I did better on the biology section but there were a few that I marked that i was unsure of, i guess i got those wrong lol. I thought i had at least a 20 on the general chemistry but maybe I just missed a step in a few of them, or something obvious didnt catch my eye.
Organic Chemistry I am pretty satisfied with, i just wonder which ones I got wrong. I was extremely confident on the substitution/elimination stuff and the ortho/meta/para directing stuff. The synthesis ones i was fine on. I didnt get any real obscure ones except for one which I thought I knew how to do but i couldnt find the answer.
I dont want to post it because that would get me in trouble but even looking in my books I cant why couldnt find the answer. The way its done in the DAT destroyer is exactly what I did..weird!
Anyway, im applying to Nova, UF, UWash, NYU, BU. They are all hard schools to get into. UWash is probably the hardest but I have a few connections over there that will help me.
I dunno with a 3.0, these scores and a few publications in research what does everything think my chances are?
