Like, what is the one thing you just CAN'T seem to get into your head for Step 1? I swear I have been over the histology of thyroid cancers 100 times and I still confuse them! :wtf:

So true. I did the whole Goljan remember the one, and then the other one is the other one. I memorised the mnemonics for 1A and 1B and assumed they wont ask 1C or if I don't recognize it I'll assume it's 1C (not the best plan but wtf) and then made up a really lame mnemonic for 3 (Am I Dof, I...But Sot) - omg worst mnemonic, that doesn't even count - but my plan kinda f*cked out since World often asks S/E that aren't class specific but rather unique to a specific drug. So I share your pain, I am just hoping they don't really feature THAT much on Wednesday.

They won't, these exams mainly only test drugs that are actually used....And there are only about a handful that are still used really (the beta blockers-sotalol, amiodarone, ibutilide, flecainide, procainamide (probably not), quinidine (unlikely) and dig/adenosine....Mainly I would just know amiodarone, adenosine, dig, and ibut/flec if you're ambitious. And the side effects of the BB/CCB you should already know.

ended up skipping all 3 and didn't get a single q :luck:

Mary, I remember when we did that in first or second year. I gave up on it then already. I remember this one question from World where they asked - which of the following bones are derived from the same arch as the mandible. I saw the one option started with an M (Maleus) and I was like - Sure, I remember FA had all these M,M,M's for the one thing and S, S's for the other. So I'm just going to guess the one with an M. It worked. So my plan is to jsut assume that arch derivatives start with the same letter or sound similar, since else FA would not have been able to make mnemonics and the universe would implode. :laugh:

ENThopeful prior to taking my test I would have totally agreed with you and probably still do, statistically speaking, BUT, on my exam I had roughly 5 questions to do with arches and derivatives and I thanked my lucky stars that I decided to do a quick memorization job on the tube on the way to the testing center!!

On a side note - toughest for me (conceptually) was respiratory physiology - it seems so basic with the compliance and elastance but oh no my friends in my head its like nuclear physics!

My problem has always been acid-base disorders, particularly when you get mixed and compensated disorders thrown in. Thankfully, I had one- anion gap acidosis, patient had a glucose of 455, obviously DKA. 😀

Yeah those are pretty bothersome, but I think the one I'm about to mention perhaps takes the gold medal award for the most ANNOYING of them all:

Dude, my acid-base Q's violated me in so many ways. :poke:
I was looking for the post-modernism escape option of claiming that whilst the examiner might few this as a DISORDER, that is really just his opinion, hus truthm and for the patient and the patients culture it might be perfectly normal to have a pH of 7.18 and a bunch of f*cked up arrows pointing all over the show. Who are we to judge, really? But there was no such option. Penis. :laugh:

Type 1B : The Little Man
1C : For Pushing Ectasy


and overall mechanism: No ( Na+) Badboy ( beta blockers ) Keeps ( K+ blockers) Clean ( Ca++ blockers)

the whole thing sounds like : No Badboy Keeps Clean; Thanks Dr.Jenkens from DIT you worth every pennies of my $ 600 except for the excessive sniffling and at the end of the lectures I was sniffling myself
