I am just getting started on this path. I have an undergrad degree in philosophy with a retched GPA, 2.66. I went back to school after that and took some general courses in psychology and am finishing an MS in psychology. Since I went back to school I am running about a 3.9 through undergrad and grad school classes. I am wondering if they will consider the vast improvement over time.

The other thing I am trying to decide about is where to take the classes. I visited with the pre-med team at the school where I am taking my MS and they outlined a potential schedule for taking the classes. Their class availability is very poor as far as evening and weekend classes. The post-bacc program at the best school down here is full-time only. I am not sure what to do.

You GRAD GPA doesn't count for much in the med school app process. You need to get your UG GPA up as high as possible, hopefully close to 3.5 overall. That being said it is virtually impossible to get to this number given your starting GPA. You'd need to do around 120 credits at 4.0, just to get in the 3.3 range.

I'd recommend taking all the prereqs and then maybe another year or upper-level science courses. If you are open to DO schools, then your GPA can be a little lower and still be competitive.

Look around to any of the state schools in your area. A school with a bigger science program may give you more options as far as night classes. Med schools don't really care too much about where you take the classes as long as it is at a 4 year school.
