Hey guys
I took the DAT yesterday and my scores are as follows:

Ochem = 27
Gchem = 26
Bio = 24
TS = 25
RC = 22
PA = 20
QR = 15
AA = 23

First of all I want to just thank everyone on here, I never could have gotten these scores without everyones posts as far as study materials etc.

The reason for this post is concering the 15 in QR. I know some schools have certain "cut offs" for every section. What do you guys think? If I did a retake Im sure I could pull QR up a bit, but I am afraid I could never replicate my 25TS or my 22 RC. I was usually scoring closer to 22TS and 19 RC on practice tests.

I am a NC resident and would love to go to UNC, but I would be happy at ECU as well! I have a 3.3 overall GPA with a very strong upward trend. My freshman/sophmore years are an embarassment; I made terrible grades. I was much more concerned with "where the party was" than studying back then. I graduated with a business degree (finance major), worked for about a year in commercial credit, and then returned to school to take the dental pre req's.

What do you guys think about a retake? I really hope that 15 isn't going to be a problem.

These are awesome scores man!! math is the least important section, and you owned every other section...so your in great shape...as far as the DAT goes.

Try, however, to bring that GPA up. 3.3 isnt terrible but it could be better, especially when you rocked the DAT like that 😉

Fantastic scores! I'm kind of in the same boat, i.e., great DAT scores, low-ish GPA, terrible beginning grades with upward trend. Why don't you contact a UNC admissions counselor and share with him/her your stats and see what he/she says?

You will gain quite a bit of attention for the TS25/AA23! I want to say 15QR isn't a big deal, I pulled a 17QR and every school didn't care. Now maybe that was because of my other scores but with such a high TS, I don't foresee it being an issue. Apply EARLY and make sure you are applying to 12+ schools as a 3.3 can bring some level of hesitancy.

no way should you retake. those are awesome. QR is the least important anyways

Thanks for all the feedback guys! I talked to my pre health advisor yesterday and she also said not to retake. She said when all other sections are strong its not really necessary to retake just to improve the qr score.

This is a good idea! I am still going to do this as well just to double check.

Awesome.. good luck! I wish you the best! Keep us updated.

do not retake. Not many schools have this "cutoff" and EVEN those that do, they might make an exception for your case... I mean comeon, 23AA? 25TS?
