So I haven't done much in my lab so far, in fact, I keep trying to go back to it, I'll go one day and then not go for a month. I really wanted to get involved in my research lab again and my P.I. has a 3,000$ provoust fellowship to give to me. Should I send update letters that I received this fellowship and plan to continue my research?

Or is this really not that big a deal. Aside from this, the only EC's I have been involved with this year are sports related.

Gym- 7 hrs/week

Quiddich (Don't hate! Our team is really good, 5 of our players are over 6 ft 3++ and I joined because I wanted to play a contact sport and intramural football is only flag!)- 6 hrs/week 3 practices, We're a top rated team in the country (and will travel etcc)

Intramural Basketball

Intramural Soccer

I just want an acceptance :/

It can't hurt! I would go ahead and send! many med schools see research as a big plus!

I doubt this will help your application much, if at all.

"I plan to continue my ECs and also research now that I'm getting money for it".

I was thinking about sending an update with how enthusiastic and excited I am about research in general, why the school compliments that, and how I got the grant/will be researching.

Though I would be sending this letter to schools I have already sent letters of interest to

I sent an update letter to one school when I was given a significant and new responsibility at work. I was invited to interview after sending it. I figure it can't hurt, if you make it sound impressive without bs-ing.

I figured you had already said all those things in your LOI/interview/secondary. Obviously it can't hurt, but be sure not to sound desperate (this was difficult for me).

Leave off the Quidditch in the update.

Damn- I dedicate a lot of time to that activity too! Seriously, we condition, scrimmage, run plays, do football tackle drills etc :/
