Just got an interview invite from SGU. I called and they told me. Now I have to coordinate with the counselor or something.

I guess I will look over the 3 essays you have to choose from as well as get some good questions for the interviewer once that time comes closer.

Good luck to the others who are waiting. Now I just have to wait on AUC to interview me! Come on AUC!!!!

No interview for AUC.

Good luck with the SGU interview.

Oh, I wasn't aware of that for AUC. Thanks for that info!!!!

Furfur, I'll PM you, k?

Just simply awesome!

Congrats! SGU is a great school and if you end up going there, you will be just fine. I just recently met an anesthesiologist from SGU. He said, I've nothing but great things to say about SGU. The campus and education are of good standards. He did say it's a little expensive, but you will have no trouble during your clinical placements in US during 3rd and 4th year. AUC and SABA are good options as well.

According to HHC, SGU just recent signed a $100 million contract, the NYC Healthand Hospitals Corporation (HHC) system of 11 acute care hospitals for training its third and fourth year medical students. The HHC also states, this agreement will ensure that New York City hospitals will continue to recruit the finest international medical graduates for their residency programs, so vital for the city's excellent health care.

I love people who will never give up their dreams, that's what life is all about, helping people in great need. Hope you do well in the interview and get in. I will pray for your success.

Thanks so much for your encouraging words, it means a lot!

I called AUC and the reason I haven't heard from them is because they are still missing one thing. So, I got right on that today and hopefully they will have it soon.

Good luck to others out there, seriously.

If you don't have rich parents Saint George's University is out of the question. The school costs $320,000 for 4 years.

I probably could have afforded SGU with loans, but I could not justify the higher price tag when the school has 400+ sudents per term no real difference in competitive residencies.

relax op. my interview was super laidback. The essay is totally bs. It only takes 10 mins.

Affording it on student loans isn't the problem but paying it back is a major one since it comes to one million dollars over a 25 year payback period.

Its not that expensive tuition is 5x 33500= 167500+ 60000 living expenses= 230 000.....

Tuition plus fees plus books are about $185,000. Then living expenses on the island and in the US plus food is about 60-70,000 plus exam fees etc... about $250-$260 depending on lifestyle

So overall, I am pretty sure that SGU is the best of carriben school, but it's not much better than AUC which offers the same degree, 60k cheaper!
The only thing thats scary is AUC loosing clinical spots later on due to SGUs recent contract in NY

Wrong and wrong

Tuition is $18,600 per semester. Lodging is $3,500, books $1,000, food $2,000. Add health insurance, lab fees, clinical insurance, and plane tickets. $18,600 + $3,500 + $1,000 + $2,000 = $25,000 (not including last four expenses mentioned). Over 11 semesters, this is $300,000 minimal.

Why is it so crucial to sit for step before July 2012?

AUC is a school with a solid reputation and a long list of med students, residents and docs in States. AUC has tons of spots in a lot of states. It is one of the few Caribbean BigCali approved school, anyone applying or going there should be just fine. How come SGU is the best Caribbean school? I think SABA and AUC does a good job as well.

That should officially make SGU the most expensive medical school in the world. There is no way SGU can justify their cost of attendance, it's just simply outrageous.

how many of this 400plus students would graduate as suppose to U.S sch where roughly ninety nine percent graduate. Carribean sch's are all money driven.

most of the U.S sch are increasing class size and yet there is no increase in residency spot..this would force most of this U.S med sch grad into residency spot that are usually reserve for foreign med sch grad. There would be no residency spot for those of you going carribean...this is just a food for thought

I haven't actually interviewed yet or gotten the official invite. Just when I called my counselor she said that it was in the computer and I would be receiving it in the mail at some point.
Congrats to you M.Furfur!!!
