Hey Guys,

I just finished the DAT today and I am feeling pretty good about it, but i wanted to know what some other people thought. Ok here is the break down.

PAT:20
RC:22
QR:15(ouch i know im horrible at math)
Bio:20
GenChem:21
OChem:22
TS:21
AA:20

Im a little worried about the QR score as it is drastically different than the rest of my scores. I have heard some schools have cut offs if you are bellow 17. Am i screwed because i such at math but am pretty good at everything else.
Sorry forgot to put it in the first time my Science GPA is 3.38 and my overall 3.79

It will depend on your GPA and the rest of your app. You should contact the schools to find out. What materials did you use to prepare? You're scores are pretty solid overall.

I wouldn't worry about the QR score too much, assuming everything else is good.

For bio/ gen chem/ o chem i used mainly my old college textbooks and the kaplan/ barrons DAT books. I also used Top Score and Achiever. On Achiever I averaged around 17 on these sections and 20 on topscore.

For the PAT I was really helped out by achiever. The difficulty of the problems (except for their half punches in the hole puching section) really helped.

Thats the thing about top score on QR i got 19, 21, 18 but i just did horrible today as i was just mentally spent and didnt watch the time well on QR

howd you prepare for QR? what resources did you use?
so you think it was a time factor that did that to your score?

I used kaplan, topscore, achiever and barrons. Yeas i think it was a mixture of me being tired at the end of the DAT and the fact i wasnt watching the clock.

make sure you practice with the calculator first though because i was not expecting it and it seem to burn some of my time

I've recently taken the DAT too with similar scores (AA=20, PAT=21, TS=22), but much lower gpa. The QR section was waaay harder than anything I've taken (i got a 17 on the QR), so it's not just you. I think the QR in DAT are getting harder and harder because out of all my practice tests, I've never encountered the beast I had to take in the last 45 mins of the exam...

Also, do NOT rely on the calculators if you want to move through the test quickly. I believe it was placed there to screw people up for the following reasons:

1.) the keypad on your keyboard DOES NOT register into the calculator offered in the DAT. It requires you to click each button individually.
2.) it registers each click SLOWLY. I had to redo a couple problems to double check my work because I discovered that I was clicking the numbers faster than the computer could register and resulted in wrong answers.

I suggest that you guys round the questions to find estimates of the answers...

but yea, that's my rant...QR fked me up and I was getting 20-25s on the practice tests.
