So I just had an interview at MCPHS and I have no clue how it went. It was one on one with a professor and she put me on the hot seat for about 20 minutes. Immediately started with why PT and I explained about my care to work with geriatric populations and she shot it down saying that that is too limited and there is generalist culture to PT. Basically every response I had was wrong to her and the girl that went before me had the same thing happen to her. Not too sure how I feel at this point...

She probably did that to see how you were under pressure, how confident you were, etc. Don't think too much of it. In my interview (different school) they asked what experiences made me confirm I wanted to be a PT and how, I gave an answer, and the interviewer came back with "I'm not sure that really confirms physical therapy, are you even sure you want to be a PT?". It came off as terrifying, as if I had given a terrible answer, but it turns out the interviewer said that to everyone they interviewed with (and after a subsequent thank-you email I don't think I did poorly at all).

I had my interview with MCPHS last Thursday and I felt the same way! After each response I gave he would say "and?" as if I hadn't sufficiently answered the question even though I gave an in depth response. He asked me nothing about my self and my interests... just maybe 4 or 5 generic questions. I'm hoping he was just trying to see how I am under pressure, but they said we should hear in about 2 weeks after the interview so fingers crossed.

Can I ask who you guys interviewed with? Do you remember their names?

If you don't mind sharing, what were your stats? I was waitlisted at MCPHS 🙁

Overall- 3.72
Prereq-3.70
GRE- 152 in both sections and 4.0 on writing
over 200 hours shadowing inpatient, outpatient, neuro rehab, geriatrics, etc.
extracurricular- ice hockey, biology tutoring, and I am working on a publication in Biomechanics research

I was not that impressed with the facilities, but it is too convenient to pass up.

I am certain you will find somewhere to get into, do not lose hope!

I got my acceptance letter in the mail yesterday! Still waiting on some of my top schools but I really like this school as an option. Good luck to everyone!

Would you possibly mind sharing some of the other questions that they asked you?

Would anyone mind sharing any of the other questions that they were asked, or possibily if they asked any out of the ordinary questions as well.
Thanks

I started my apps late, and I have a feeling the MCPHS class is most likely full, or close to it. Should I bother applying at this point?

Yes. Their classes fill generally late. I know they were still doing interviews in April and May last year

To those who have applied and interviewed, if you don't mind me asking, when did you send in your application and how long did it take for mcphs to get back to you with an interview invite? Thanks in advance! 🙂

I sent it in on 9/3, it was verified 10/3 and I was invited for an interview the last week of October. I was interviewed on a Thursday and got my acceptance letter that following Tuesday.. it was all very quick!

Hello all,

I got my acceptance letter today and will most likely be going here. It took FOREVER. I sent in my stuff 8/31, got a letter they got it 10/10, had an interview 11/9, and got the letter on 12/2. Anyways as far as the specifics that anyone would like to know is that I had a 20 min interview with one professor. She intensely questioned me and was looking for me to defend myself and think on my feet. Think through about your answers and be confident in yourself. I was asked why PT, why I would be a good candidate, why MCPHS and had a tour and that was it. Facilities are eh, labs are alright, the faculty seemed okay, not really bad or impressive. Just be patient and the time will come. Good luck everyone!

Got an interview invite this past week (4/18) and will be flying out first week of May. For those of you that got accepted, I hope to see you on the other side! 🙂
