I was talking to OHSU last week, and the admissions office lady who answered the phone (after some arm-twisting) told me that I was on the "non-preferred" list (not surprising since I'm out of state) and they would not be interviewing people from that list this year because they had so many applicants. She said they had over 3,500 this year! AAMC says they only had 2,740 for the 2003-2004 class.

What does everybody think, is the applicant pool up by almost 30% from two years ago, or is this school just an anomaly?

A friend of the family who works at one of the med schools said that this year there were about 3000 more applicants this year than last that appliced through AAMC/AMCAS. So it would seem reasonable that one school could have an extra 700 or apps to go through.

Empircal evidence suggests billions more applied this year.
