Hey guys,

I have always been thinking for some reason that, as long as you score 20AA or 21AA, does not matter if you have 23AA, 24AA, 25AA or higher since they only differ by a few(?) questions. I thought it was just the number itself that make these scores look incredibly high.
But in terms of how the adcoms perceive these numbers, how significantly high is 23AA compared to 20AA?
would you say that 23AA is "significantly" higher than 20AA? Would adcoms think that a candidate with 23AA or higher performed "MUCH" better on DAT than a candidate with a 20AA?

I was just curious...Thanks!

At 20AA approx 1/10 people have your score whereas at 23AA it's more like 1/80.

23AA means you got around 15 more points across the sciences, reading, and qr. I doubt that's just a few questions in difference.

what about for 14 AA/15 TS does it stand out how many wrong

I know a score of 17AA and 19AA are significantly different because as your score gets higher, I know your score in each section can jump by a few more points very easily only by a one or two questions.

I would say it veers towards being significantly better (in comparison to no difference), especially if the TS difference was also 20 vs 23. It's like the difference between an average applicant vs an above average one (based on average matriculating student scores). But of course GPA also factors into the numbers game, so it's not so black and white.

Agree, there is a substantial difference.

The difference you're thinking of is between a 25 AA and a 27AA; 27 still looks better, but this is the point where a single question or two could mean the difference between a few points on the section. If you're talking about making a difference on how schools view an applicant, the amount would depend on the rest of your app-namely your gpa (ie score abnormally high with a low gpa and some schools would give you consideration they otherwise would not). Like others have reiterated in previous threads, stats don't completely define an applicant.

there is a big difference in how well you did on the DAT

however, how admissions views a 20 and 23 varies

if you have a 3.3 GPA then a 23 AA will be much better than a 20 AA

but if you have a 3.6+ GPA then a 20 AA would be the same chances of admission into dental school as a 23 AA

Yes, I understand that stats don't completely define an applicant, but I was just curious on just the DAT itself. Thanks for your input!

Isn't a 23AA like 99th percentile while a 20 is like 90th?

Pretty big difference.
