Had session 1 last night it was very fun actually 😀

I"m initially going to be teaching sat to get my feet wet and then cross training for dat. 🙂

I'm doing training session 4 tonight. I find teaching the DAT material way more interesting than SAT. Make the switch early while you still can! Plus I believe DAT/MCAT teachers get paid alittle more. The sessions are fun, yet frustrating at times. Preparation takes way more time than I first imagined. But like you said, it is fun and the pay is great. Good luck with your training!

What scores do you have to have to be able to teach there?

Top 10% from what i understand

MCAT is $14 per hour, DAT is like $12 per hour and SAT is about $10 per hour. Plus for every hour of in class lecture you are paid an additional $7 per hour for preparation time. All training is $7/hr as well.

Nope, but my whole class is SAT and their material is so unbelievably boring. Even some of the SAT trainees tell me they find the Verbal material unexciting to teach. As for the pay, in our area, it goes ~$17-18/hr for DAT/MCATs & ~$14/hr for SAT.

Oh and as for the prep time, we get regular pay. In fact, the first 2 times we teach the session, we can get paid 2 hours out of class for every hour in class. So that's 9 hours of $17-18/hr pay for teaching 1 3-hour class. Pretty sweet 👍

Did you also know that if we are still teaching, and come the NDBE boards and then the GRE (if you choose to take it for some post-grad program), we get the classes for FREE. Another great perk for working for Kaplan.

Yeah, I have reason to believe that it is 90th percentile PER section. I'll check up on that tonight for you.

i actually went through the whole training process and finished it but never got to teach because the place they wanted me to teach was far away and i didn't want to drive that far. it's ok though, i ended up getting another tutoring job at a small company that paid more. but still the training was pretty fun. what did you "teach" on during your job interview??

i teach DAT in souther california.
i almost vomitted while going through the training, the center director and my KTDP trainer were so full of it, and I didn't even get paid until my 8th week at kaplan (counting from KTDP to teaching the actual class).

anyway, teaching can be fun, i just started first class this july acutally (completed my training in late june). just to give you guys a little heads-up, most students expect you to teach them some "gimmicK' or "shortcut" to do well on the DAT without putting the time in. and they always hold it against you if you teach from the TEL.

NEVER EVER read from the TEL, it's full of errors that dont even correspoond to the student's lesson books. Even the Errata in the TEL is erroneous, so make sure you check with the student edition before you actually start teaching, or else it would be very embarassing students would hammer you on that in their evaluations.
