You mention that you're applying for a PGY-2 position:
If you are in a categorical program and are trying to switch from one program to another, most of those programs don't use ERAS to look for PGY-2 residents. You would contact the program directly. There's nothing wrong with using ERAS, but most people don't. So in that case, you should contact the program directly, let them know you're interested in a PGY-2 position, and that you've submitted an application in ERAS.
If you're in a prelim program and are trying to switch your PGY-2 position, that's more complicated. You need a match waiver from your current Advanced spot before you can look for new positions. You'd need to apply to the NRMP for a waiver, which they would likely give you for this situation.
