I work for a 60+ year old pharmacy and we have a lot of really ancient equipment in the basement of the store. We have modernized it, but it is crazy how old the place is.

I worked in a place for a while with a 70 year old pharmacist and his grandfather had started their built the building we were in at the turn of the century.

Lots of really really cool stuff in that basement too.

At around 7:40 they talk about pharmacy "salesmen" who go around and advise doctors on new drugs. This seems like it would be a cool job, do these type of jobs still exist for pharmacists?

i don't believe so, because i think pharmaceutical sales reps have taken over that field. the drug companies weren't anything like what they are today.

did anyone see the part at around 7:30 where he says "women make great pharmacists!" with such a surprised tone in his voice?

That's true though. When I go to a pharmacist and it's some girl counseling me on medications, I pay attention a lot, especially if it's a pretty girl

But I've known pharmacists and pharmacy managers who were women, and they're generally more sociable and you can talk to them about so many things while working. If you work with a bunch of males, you would talk about "guy stuff" only lol

Yeah I've met a few pharmacists in sales. They started out as drug reps but now are supervisors of drug reps and people who make the drug reps' training programs.

"Although only a small percentage of pharmacists are women, the proportion is steadily increasing"

 If they only knew the percentages now.

I volunteer at one of the oldest pharmacies in California (110 years) and we do not have any machines to count our pills :[. But what I like about this pharmacy is that it is part drug store and part diner. There is even an old fashion soda jerking machine ^_^.

But I have to admit, doing a majority of things manually has taught me a lot.

surprised he didn't do it smoking a cigarette...haha.

one of my rotation sites used to be an old disco...i was in the back one day grabbing some things and the dance floor was still intact. apparently it was nuts back in the day...people snorting lines of coke and stabbing people, etc...
