just took the DAT..now what?

ok.. so i left Prometric center (last wed) all shooken up and distraught..that he handed me my scores and i left.

how do i get m scores sent out to schools? or does ADA automaticcaly send them out to schools?

or do i have to tell them?

or do i just sit and relax...how long does it take before schools get them..help?

We have to request the scores ourselves, and click the box with the school to send it to. Log into the same site where you initially registered for the DAT, and you'll see an option to send out score reports. It costs $25/ score report for the various schools that ask for it. Get ready to break open the checking account if you applied to a bunch of schools.

oh i already chose the 5 schools and an additional schools when i registered to take the exam ..(so i payed 25 bux for each additional school already)..so that means ada already sent them out automatically correct? i don't have to do anything like tell them to send it out right? =)

You got it. They are on the way. It will take 2-4 weeks to get there according to ADA.

To hurry up the process you can fax your scores to your schools on Tuesday to get the process on the road. Several schools request that you fax them the scores, others (UCLA) specifically note NOT to fax them, apparently they only want the original.

You gotta check with individual schoosl to see if they accept faxed copy or not. Some will go to the extreme and require you to send the faxed "official copy", and in that case you will have to spend 25 bucks to hav ada mailed you the DAT score...

It usually take 2-4 weeks, but sometimes you want to call the schools to make sure. So far my app. is complete at around 8 schools, but there are schools that still havent received my DAT score and I took it on 8/11.

so i can fax the sheet of paper they gave me after the exam right? or do i have to request a copy from ADA and then fax that..

i'm sorry...these questions are SOO stupid and common sense ..my poor future patients ;p

Some schools want you to fax your unofficial DAT scores (the one you have right now). Faxing an official one would be the same as an unofficial one i would think bc there is no way to tell the authenticity. 😕
Make sure that the official scores are being sent to the schools individually and you should be fine.
