What region are you in?
I work as an ambulatory care pharmacist in the Mid-Atlantic region. The work is alot like retail. You're on your feet all day while dispensing prescriptions and helping members at the window. You still run into lots of questions about copays but don't process claims to diff ins companies like you do in retail. The main difference is that there's alot more paper work to comply with and people to answer to who are there with you on a daily basis.
The big postives are a regular schedule M-F 9-5, good benefits, no holidays or weekends and an hour lunch for an 8&1/2 hour shift.
You may want to consider what is most important for you considering a M-F schedule may be great or you may want to work longer shifts for fewer days of the week like retail pharmacists do. The stress is very similar, perhaps even a bit less in retail.
There are clinical or call center pharmacists who call members from an office all day about changes to their meds. These positons either prefer or require clinical experience or residency.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions.
