Hey guys,

So I am new to the whole DAT... I have been a premed for a while and been studying for the MCAT but recently there was a spark of interest in Dental.

My friend gave me his old DAT Kaplan cd/material 2003 and I took the practice DAT on the CD. I ended up with an 18 overall. Is this test still a good marker for how I would perform on the DAT or 2003 Kaplan quite old?

Also, what happens to the Perceptual Ability portions of the test? Does it not get counted in the overall official score?

kam che?

well really you are not giving much info. to work w/. why dont you buy and take topscore tests or achiver tests and compare it w/ people who already posted their scores and their real dat scores.

I will do so.

Does ADA release any real previous DAT exams?

Also, I am a little confused about the PAT. It does not get factored into the overall score. Is that correct? If so, what is the true value behind PAT?

you should really read couple pages of kaplan or ada's test guide it will better explain... yes ada has a free sample test online. and pat does count towards your Academic average (AA) bio, orgo, chem = total science TS.

PAT doesn't count towards AA.

I actually just bought the kaplan 2003 edition for $5.95 and I was wondering the same thing. Should I buy the newer version?
I don't know how if there is much of a difference between the old books and the new ones.

Not much difference between Kaplan old and new. Their material gets updated only once in a while, which is why it is NOT a good idea to rely solely on Kaplan for test prep and Study. To the op, a score of 18 is really easy to get with Kaplan practice tests, they are simply not as challenging as some of the other practice materials out there or even the real DAT for that matter.
Try to get your hands on some other study n test prep materials. There are some that are quite popular and have proven to help students including myself do very well on the test. You can find a compilation of them here: http://stu-dentdiaries.blogspot.com/ Hit the DAT Study Materials tab.

Good Luck.
