hey everyone,

i was wondering for those of you who have taken the DAT and believe that the Bio section for Kaplan is lacking a bit, what would you recommend to study in addition and for which topics. So far what i seem to gather as good supplementary materials are Schaums and Kaplan AP bio for topics like classification and evolution. Anything else? And how are those two?

i spent my last week of studying reading schaums biology and thought the bio was not extremely difficult. I also used topscore and kaplan subject tests. i have heard good things about the AP book from someone on here but did not use it personally.

Campbell as a reference, focussing on syllabus outlined by the ADA should appreciably get you great score in the 20s for Bio, from my own experience.

how helpful did you find schaums? for which topics did you find it more helpful for the actual exam than Kaplan?

I'm using schaums mainly for plant biology, evolution, and ecology, maybe a little for classification too - and also to just review the other 'basic stuff'.

Can anyone who has taken the DAT 'break down' the gen chem and org chem sections for me? They scare me the most!

Thanks

i used kaplan exclusively except for campbell a few times for plant bio and misc reference. there are quite a few questions that are 'off the wall'... but in my opinion it was pretty easy to narrow it down to 2-3 answers and take an educated guess. i was extremely worried about this section because of what i've read on SDN, but it seemed to work out fine for me. i would recommend using other resources though for a bit of reassurance.
