Recently, I have noticed many people mentioning Biology on the actually exam: he fact that it is too vague or simply unpredictable. I plan on taking the exam around the first week of August. Thus, I just started studying a few days ago. For Bio, I am using Kaplan BB as of now and picking up Destroyer in a few weeks. Kaplan's bio section comprises of simple summaries. Is this enough for the actual exam? If not, what else can one use to increase their Bio aptitude? Also, as far as Kaplan's practice Bio goes, it is not very challenging. What would be a good alternative as a practice test for the bio section?

i think if you actually READ the kaplan book, it's enough, but if you just do the questions, no because the actual test has stuff that really tests your understanding of the subject as oppose to memorization of specific facts.

Thank you. Ill be sure to actually go through and read the whole book.

just finished reading through the CliffsNotes AP Bio book today and I can say that it is much more in-depth than the Kaplan Bio section. That doesnt mean its a better book though. Its sometimes poorly organized and in need of a few extra diagrams IMO. Still, I would reccommend buying both.

You're better off memorizing Cliffs cover to cover than to waste time with Kaplans book

Theres stuff on the actual thing that isnt coverered in cliffs, like genomics type questions, and questions on cDNA and Genomic libraries

Molecular biology and and those types of things you need to get form a textbook

Chapters 19 and 20 in the campbell book is where you will find that information.

I read through Cliffs AP Biology. I preferred it much more over the Kaplan book, it has more coverage and also there are practice questions after each section which I found helpful to recap as well as if I ever go back to review.

You can buy it for real cheap on Amazon so you should definitely buy it! good luck! 🙂
