Hey guys,

I've decided to POST this POST here, (instead of the DAT forum), since my question is directed to those students who have already taken the DAT.

Assuming I have 'Zero' Background in the Natural Sciences (which I don't). If I picked up the KAPLAN BLUE BOOK - and read it from cover-to-cover, inside-out, back-to-front, and then front-to-back (hypothetical of course) - what do you think my maximum score on the DAT could be, on each section of the TEST?

THANKS!

Naith

the only one who can answer that question is yourself. Instead of asking random people on the internet who have never met you and dont know your potential, you should acutally pick up the blue book and start STUDYING. that way, you will be able to do well instead of dreaming about it.

It was just a question, I'm sure a lot of people have used the KAPLAN BLUE BOOK, and I just wanted to know how it fairs compared to other study materials available on the market (in regards for preparation for the DAT).

I Posted the Thread here, becasue I wanted REAL answers from people who have already:

1) USED THE KAPLAN BLUE BOOK
2) AND TAKEN THE ACTUAL DAT BASED ON KBB AS THIER STUDY TOOL

I've noticed there has been a lot of negativity on what is supposed to be a postive site for postive people, so does anyone else have a POSITIVE answer to my question?

If there are no responses, then my post is just plain DUMB, and I promise not to feel offended. 🙂

Thank You

Naith

WHy don't you study it and see how you do on the practice tests from Kaplan, Baron's, Ace the Dat, Topscore etc...

Allright, I'm not going to get any REAL answers here. 🙁

Audio - I think your right, I might as well start, and quit wasting time on SDN. Hey - see ya guys in about 4-6 weeks (I will be gone studying for the DAT - I know I can do it!)

My motivation is fueled by the prospect of coming back here and reporting nothing but 20's accross the board!!!

Don't forget me now!

I'll be back - either as ianwight or naithgirw

But wish me LUCK!!!

Thanks again for all your advice!

JUST A NOTE - I WILL BE TAKING THE DAT END OF JULY/BEGINNING OF AUGUST :scared: :scared: :scared: (WISH ME LUCK)

actually i think its a good question..

i'm currently studying using blue kaplan book.. and i've wondered..

ON THE REAL DAT.. are there any questions (espec. bio) that u would say jus werent in kaplan book?

yes the real dat does have several random bio questions which never appeared in the blue book.

Several? Out of 40? I for one can live with that! Did you really mean only just several? That's kind of hard to believe. I really don't want anyone to feel like I'm a pick-pocket, just fishing for techniques/inside info for the DAT, but could someone else please elaborate? Thanks!

Hey, Gattaca Boy, I'm being sincere as possible, I just want more information on the KAPLAN BLUE BOOK, and how much it really helps.

Sorry if I'm being offensive to you, I don't mean it!

No one is trying to be negative. You are just asking questions that are not able to be answered except by you. Person A can pick up the book and person B could pick up the same book and both will get two very different scores. Now with random question not being in the book, all of them are that way. Not every practice exam and not every study book will have all the questions that are on the DAT.

Agreed. I will add that each person has a different way to study and knows different information about each subject. As for the DAT, person 1 may have a totally different DAT test than person 2. DAT 1 may have totally different "random" questions than DAT 2. The best way to prepare for the DAT is to buy some DAT books (like Kaplan, Topscore, Barron's to name a few popular ones), print out the outline the ADA gives you on their website that highlights the topics covered on the test, and use some old textbooks you may have to clarify anything you do not understand from the DAT books. You may feel as if you need some hardcore studying if you cannot remember most of the material, or you may feel as if the whole process is a review. Either way, quit stressing and asking people on SDN about questions on the DAT. No one feels like trying to recall "random" questions and take the time to post them online, especially if it isn't even a sure thing that you will get these types of questions on your DAT. Stop fishing for information all the time on SDN and start STUDYING. Good luck to you.

Hey, thanks Bro! I think I needed that - difficult to swallow! But I needed that, thanks again!

JUST TWO MORE QUESTIONS - then I'm done!

1) ADA provides us with an outline of the subjects? That's news to me! - Can you supply me the link please?

2) Please check out my POST in the DAT forum on PLANT BIOLOGY and ECOLOGY, and give me an honest answer 😳

Thanks everyone!

You seem to be new, so I'll just say this. Use SDN as a final resource if you CANNOT find the answer to your question elsewhere. For example, asking for the link to www.ada.org you could simply Google the ADA website. Doing this helps minimize the "clutter" posts that appear on a daily basis. So in summary: THINK before you post, IF you cant find simple information on your own, THEN post a question. There's a lot of posts to look through on SDN, so help minimize the clutter by not posting things like "could you post the link for the ADA website" and other personal questions that we cannot possibly answer. Thank you, and have a nice thread. 🙂
