I have been taking the Chemistry and Organic Chemistry Kaplan Subject Tests, and I feel as though the questions are very convoluted with weird calculations, and kind of tricky, especially for GC. Is this the case for the real DAT? Is the DAT more straightforward than the Kaplan GC (and OC)? The Kaplan GC asks many problems that require a few steps and are somewhat tricky. I even find DAT Destroyer GC more straightforward than Kaplan chemistry. Am I the only one that feels this way?

I totally agree with you!!! I feel the same way for the gen chem AND ochem subjective tests.
Even though I felt that way, the only reason I still did them was to get exposed to as many questions possible, so that I dont freak out as much on the real DAT.

Also, I thought the kaplan subjective tests were not consistent with the range of difficulty...i.e. all the easy questions were found in the subject test #4, and hard ones in #5 or something like that.

Did you use the Kaplan Subject (chem) tests when preparign for your first DAT? Was it similar to the DAT questions? Howd you do?

I got 20 on the gchem and 21 on ochem.

I didnt use the kaplan subjective test for my first time.
I kinda freaked out on some of the chemistry questions on the real DAT and this time, I'm trying to do some extra problems to boost up my score..that's why i did kaplan subjective tests. I also watched chad video this time.

Will see what happens next week
But for now, i feel like im gonna score even lower than my first!!! I think i kinda slacked off this time 🙁 ahhhhhhhhhhhh

why? what made you freak out about the questions on the DAT? what type of questions?

Well yeah, 20 is not bad at all. I was actually pretty happy with my gchem and ochem scores. My main reason for a retake is to do better on the other sections and hopefully see an upward trend for all the sections.

The reason why i freaked out was there were like 2-3 calculation questions on the gchem I didnt know where to start. With the time restraint, I got really nervous...But other than that, I thought the Gchem and Ochem questions on the real DAT is fairly straightforward.

kaplan sucks. i took the course. it was a serious waste of my life and like a thousand some dollars, however much i paid. it was a mess.
i hate kaplan they have like a "higher score guaranteed" motto or some crap well UM YEA because anyone who comes in and takes a test on the first day, THEYRE GOING TO SUCK and will probably get like a 14. so CLEARLY if you study ANYTHING after this initial test they give you, your score is going to go up. that doesnt mean by much....kaplan is a mess. im over it. they leave out lots of information, and in doing so they somehow also make the questions more intricate than necessary.
im clearly hating on kaplan currently, my fault

I would have to agree, I find kaplan to be a complete waste of time. I also took the course and wasted my time. Just do destroyer and review your topscore after you have done it. Dont worry about kaplan, they dont seem like a good bearing for the way the DAT really is.

i didnt use either for RC or QR. I use topscore for RC and destroyer and topscore for QR

Kaplan course sucks. It didn't help me at all. I felt like I wasted my time and money for this course. I prefer Chad's videos for GC and OC.
