I am planning on taking the kaplan course as a way to keep me on track of studying for the DATs. I wanted to know if the kaplan course was helpful. I am going to be using other material, but I really wanted some advise on if the course was worth the money.

It helped me get a good score, but imo 1300 is just too much.

I really thought the class was useless, and if you have any other classes, it will be very difficult to keep up with the pace. The only good thing about it is the practice test, but you can just get them from someone. def not worth the money!

i'm in the class right now, and if i could go back i wouldn't take it. basically all my instructor does is bring up the easy topics and says be sure you know that for the test. so we're not taught anything! we go through the lesson book and cover very basic topics, that are super easy and pointless to do in the class. The only good things is the online workshops/quizzes/practice test/books. so my best advice would be to buy the online package or get ahold of kaplan books and allocate a certain amount of time a couple to times a week to work on a subject. Because right now spending 2 days for 3 hours at a kaplan center is a complete waste of time, i could be reading on my own and getting much more out of it. So...kaplan stuff is good, but not the classroom, or atleast mine isn't 😱

I wouldn't take the class if I were you. Pretty much useless. I took the class and eneded up using the blue book as an outline and my past textbooks to fill in the missing pieces. I also found the Achiever and Crack DAT PAT useful.

The following are the only things Kaplan is actually worth:

1) to keep u on track (they basically lay out a study schedule for u and try to make u follow it - imo it hardly works)

2) the online tests - they have one on their website - which is free, they give 4 more practice tests + a diagnostic + a mid term + a final.

3) their online quizzes - they're awesome

4) their lectures (provided online) - in class they jus read out of those lectures.

5) to find study buddies in your area - this was one of the major reasons y I took this course (I know..a lil too desperate..lol)

You get access to their online material for about 4 months or so. And u can access it again, after those 4 months, if u want.

Overall, I feel that if u can get your hands on the online stuff, there's no point in spending money on the course. Instead, get DAT achiever n topscore.
