Hello!

I am planning on taking the DAT hopefully in late August. I want to take the Kaplan course, however, I'm not sure whether it would be better to take it towards the middle of the summer or the next one which starts next week. Which one would benefit me more? I feel like if I take it now I can get the reading done etc and then take the rest of the time to do problems. What do you guys think?

Also, I know that Kaplan gives you a lot of reading material (from what I've heard). Should I incorporate other study material as I do the kaplan course or focus on that first and then do the other stuff?

Thank you in advance for your help!

id take it now and spend the rest of your time before your test doing practice tests/problems as well as watching chad, doing the destroyer, and working on crack dat pat

Yeah I think that would be best. Do you think I should do other things as well at the same time that I do Kaplan?

well I personally watched Chad as I went through the chem and ochem sections, but other than that I would just focus on learning everything from the kaplan book and reviewing what you went through in class

How much do these courses cost?

1200 if you want the in person course. Online is 1050

that's with their 200 dollar off promotion. I think they run it all the time.

The in person course honestly a crap shoot. the person who started out doing the DAT classes for me is someone on SDN. I didn't realize it until a few weeks in. He's nice and really helpful. The guy who took over because SDN member moved up to SF and doing his thing to get ready to UOP in july in my opinion is so-so. He knows his ochem. But he wasn't helpful in regards to the DAT. He did the MCAT.

But supposed I was better off than what SDN member got as a teacher when he did kaplan. He told me he got some LSAT teacher so they were pretty much reading out of the book.

The thing that Kaplan that worth it to me is the ridiculous amount of practices dedicated to each area. Which was what I was really after.

I'm working through all of those, plus doing CDP, the DAT destroyer, math destroyer, ACS ochem and cliffs ap bio.

don't take the kaplan course, just buy the course materials from eBay. There are few ones are up for bids.

I respectfully disagree. the materials that you can get off ebay do NOT include the thousands of test questions that the class offers. yeah, the class is extremely overpriced, but you'd be doing yourself disservice if you ONLY went out and bought the materials for about $200-300 and didn't get the best part of the course…the test questions.
And to the OP, the $200 isn't always around, i had to wait a couple of weeks ago to buy the class because there wasn't a $200 off deal.

just do the online class option for kaplan. That gives you access to all the material minus the actual classroom teaching. If you can study by yourself, that's a great option
