I took the 150 question diagnostic from Kaplan and got a 65%, I thought it was super hard. But then again, I have a ton of weaknesses. I was really expecting a three-digit score estimate but couldn't find one. Does anybody have any experience with this 150q Kaplan diagnostic and its utility, maybe some sort of correlation to a score?

My exam is 7 weeks away. Is it useful to take an NBME exam right at the beginning of the dedicated study period (like for me to take an NBME next week)?

A 65% is actually a solid score for the Kaplan diagnostic. Any score in the 60-65 range usually translates to a score of 220-230 at the present moment. I heard that this diagnostic exam was meant to be tough and that getting a score in 60-65 range allows Kaplan to "guarantee" that the exam taker could pass Step 1 at the moment. Of course, the cut-off for "passing" and getting the 60-65 equates to a 220-230 score and not a 192ish. This probably offers Kaplan a big enough cushion to offer a guarantee.

With that being said, this exam is complete trash in my opinion, and you'd be better off doing UW and reviewing those questions. I know people that went on the score a 250+ on Step 1 and only scored in the 60-70 range on that diagnostic, which was after they had gone through an entire qbank on the side, usually Kaplan or Rx, and was less than 2 months out from their test date. You're in a good spot. Hit your weaknesses hard and get through UW at least once. Ideally do it 2x or do the incorrects and read FA & pathoma. Don't fret too much over it.
