I plan to take Step 1 exam during June/July 2010. The way my medical school taught us was more for the clinic, and so they did not do much emphasis on boards material, and I just felt everything was disorganized and I couldn't get a good grasp on anything. The main book I'm aware of is First-Aid as a start, but that's a brief outline of everything. I like to have details, it's the way I remember, so I'm looking at these Kaplan books.

I can't figure out the difference between the Home Study and Lecture Notes. It looks like Home Study is split into four books, basic science and organ systems, something like that. But the lecture notes are focused on organ systems, it looks like, seven of those books. Is the advantage toward the lecture notes here? Or does it just come down to personal preference? I read some previous posts, and someone mentioned that lecture notes have more information, and they are organized in a way that makes it easier to work with.

Thanks.
