For all of you who have taken the DAT......Does the math review section in the kaplan book resemble the quant. on the real DAT? It seems like a lot of useless information. I have no problem doing the sample test in the DAT registration book. In other words, do I need to memorize all of the formulas for the geometric shapes in Kaplan? Thanks

nah, kaplan sucked for the math section... go buy an SAT math workbook... i used a bright green one...i forgot the name or who published it...but it helped a lot more than kaplan...

Kaplan math section is soooo elementary for the DAT. I used the gre math to prepare for it. If u can get your hand on Kaplan GRE practice test, work on the math and english part. I saved me big time.
Years ago, Kaplan had a math alone book for practicing the GRE. It has more than 1000 problems in it, divides by subjects. It is the best to prep for any standardized math test. Especially the DAT.
I have one, but my GRE books are so valuable that it would never leave my room.

Math on the DAT is actually pretty simple. Nothing really more difficult than probably most of us saw in high school. I think the main thing is just to practice until you're FAST. 45 questions in 45 minutes. It's not differential equations; you've just got to be able to compute quickly in your head. Not an easy task when you've just spent two years in physics and calculus with a calculator practically glued to your hand. 😉

The math section on the DAT section is CAKE. It is basically a level LOWER than what you would see on the SAT. All you have to do is go over basic formulas that you would see in the Kaplan book. I literally spent less than 10 hours studying for this section and definitely found it the EASIEST of all the sections. Even the more difficult quantitative questions I saw on the DAT that involved knowing some equation that I didn't know, I made educated guesses/plug-and-chug --> got the right answer. I think they put this section at the end of the test because it definitely involves the least amount of effort and stress. So the key is Don't stress and I wouldn't really mess with the SAT math section...you'll probably end up studying way more than you should!
