I just took the kaplan midterm and I became very frustrated with the QR section. Lots of decimals, mixed fractions, and percents that took me way too much time. Am I just an idiot who needs a lot more work on QR, or is the actual DAT QR section easier than this?

The Kaplan midterm is probably the hardest of Kaplan's QR sections. It's very time consuming.

The actual test has less nitpicky computations, but more word problems. Depending on your strengths this can be easier or harder.

If you're like most Kaplan students, the midterm is your first full length quantitative section. Once you realize the extremely fast pace of the QR section, your score will most likely improve dramatically...most people do very poorly on the QR for the midterm.

Good luck!

I was scoring 20-22, when I did KAPLAN QR tests. I ended up with a 17 on the real thing.
So, go figure!

Be sure to read through all of the explanations on the Kaplan test completely, that's the only way I learned how to get better at QR. Also, decimal problems always stumped me, until I learned that you just simply convert it to scientific notation, then it's a snap.

IE:

0.003 * 0.07 =

( 3 * 10^-3) * (7 * 10^-2) =

(3*7) * (10^-3 * 10^-2) =

21 * (10^-5) =
