I took the Kaplan full lenght DAT midterm on monday and scored a 21 on the PAT section. This was better than I hoped for and just wanted to see how the Kaplan Tests compare to the real deal? Harder or easier, or the same? Just wondering. thanks!

Unfortunately they're a bit easier than normal, but they're a good place to start. That's a good score for the midterm though, by the time you're done w/ the class and have studied a bit more you should do fine on the real test =)

KAPLAN PAT is a joke compared to the real thing. The sciences are somewhat similar to the real DAT, but personally I thought the bio questions on the real DAT were somewhat vague.

I teach the Kaplan course and I wouldn't call the PAT a joke, but it is a bit easier. In general you'll find:

Keyholes: Kaplan slightly easier.
TFE: About same difficulty.
Angle Ranking: Real test is way harder.
Hole Punching: Real test is way harder.
Cube Counting: Same difficulty.
Pattern Folding: About same difficulty.

I also think the Kaplan scoring system is off on the PAT. I think you can miss a lot more questions on the Kaplan tests and still score a 20 than on the real test. Not positive as you don't actually get to see how many you've missed on the real test, but I didn't find the actual test that much more difficult than Kaplan, yet received a 23 while getting 28s on the Kaplan tests.

That being said, a 21 on the Kaplan Midterm is really good assuming the diagnostic was your initial exposure to the material.

Thanks Guys! but yeah not to offend anyone but I thought the Hole punching and angles were way too easy. I really thought that there was no way the real DAT was that easy for those parts of the PAT.
Thanks again everyone!

I teach the course as well and completely agree, but it does give you great practice with the material.
