hey guys i had a few questions concerning the kaplan subject exams. i know that with the course u get like 5 sets of 40 questions for bio, so on and so forth. can u guys tell me if these exams helped you prepare for the dat and if they are worth it?
also, can u guys tell me if the dat flashcards from the kaplan course helped u for bio chem and orgo( somebody told me to just memorize all the ochem rxns from the flashcards and i would be in great shape for OC on the dat) i would appreciate your comments and input. thanks in advance.

The more the merrier! It never hurts to test yourself as much as possible. YES they helped!

Once again, definitely helps. Repitition -- always a good thing.

I guess my point is.. don't cheat yourself. Use as many tools that are available to you for studying for the DAT.

best of luck

The subject tests were extremely helpful, especially for the sciences. Take all of them if you can, and go over the explanations extensively. I've always felt that the key to the DAT isn't just to memorize a bunch of stuff - it's to answer practice test questions ad nauseum until you understand what mistakes you make and how to avoid them.

The flashcards helped me a ton. If you study them very carefully and go over every detail, they'll help lay a foundation in the DAT sciences. I took a stack of them pretty much everywhere I went.

Get them. The math is poorly written as the numbers rarely work out as easy as they do on the DAT, but other than that both resources are good.

it all depends on how well you want to do. go the hardcore route: in addition to the kapaln subject tests and the flashcards, do the problems in the back of your org chem book. then, expect 26+ on that section.

Take all the Kaplan exams you can. I took them too slowly. Move along as if you are taking a test otherwise you will waste time. Kaplan's tests are normally way more time consuming than the real deal - esp gen chem and orgo. Kaplan is a great resource and it was totally necessary for me to take it. Don't worry if you're not scoring the way you want on Kaplan. I did terribly on most kaplan tests but did well on the DAT.

The QR subjects tests from Kaplan are either difficult or just time consuming. They are great practice tests, but don't worry if you run out of time on the QR tests. All other subject tests are great, especially Bio.

im currently enrolled in the kaplan course and so far i have found it to be very helpful. as long as you go to the classes and keep on top of the online assignments, you should do fine. all of the sections offer large amounts of help, especially the bio, which some have mentioned already, but i also found that the PA to be VERY helpful as well.
