I retain a lot more information while watching videos, and have been watching Kaplan Step 2 videos for my shelf exams, which have helped me in the past. But for step 2 preperation, I'm wondering which one is recommended by people on here, Kaplan videos or Doctors in training?

Depends on the time factor. If you have TONS of time, Kaplan >>>>DIT. But for the person who only has a month or little more, DIT is probably a better option.

Second.

I used Kaplan videos through second year, then did them again to prepare for Step 2. I purposefully chose 2 months of easy rotations (9-12 radiology, family med with a guy who works 3 days a week) so I could use the afternoons to watch the videos.

The Kaplan preparation is extraordinarily good. DIT is mediocre at best. Anybody can read Step Up themselves and do some Uworld questions. If you had the discipline to watch the videos already, you likely don't need the structure that DIT provides (the real benefit of DIT is not the knowledge, but the study plan), and would probably benefit from learning more information. The way you go from 230 (average) to 250 (1 SD up) is by knowing the extraneous stuff, the stuff that just isnt covered in DIT or Step Up, that IS covered in Kaplan.

Quick question, let's say one had access to DIT AND Kaplan videos, and say 6-7 weeks of study time for step 2, which would you do and why?

Thanks much

So... Kaplan. Because they are better. And you learn more. And learning more gets you more questions right

What about Kaplan's Master the Boards CK? Does it contain a lot of the minutiae that you get from the Kaplan videos?
