bought the kaplan videos and books; but I am finding that sometimes the videos are a huge miss and that the books are overkill with topics. I am using first aid to review and if I dont understand something I hit up google, etc and look at the kaplan books to clarify some detail. For the people that used pathoma+FA+ uworld, did you use any kaplan videos at all? I am finding that they waste time but then I feel guilty/missing stuff if I dont watch them. Thoughts?

Someone I personally know used Kaplan videos and the books, ditched FA (as in did not use it at all) and did a lot of questions, and got over a 240.
Others used FA+pathoma+uworld and did just fine.
I guess it all boils down to each individual. If you have a solid basic science background, there's no need to do Kaplan. FA +pathoma+uworld will suffice. If you feel weak in your basic sciences, then Kaplan is a great investment.

I'm not using kaplan videos, and from what I have read on here a large number, probably the majority, are not using them either. I know how you feel, but I'd get off the kaplan train if you feel that it is anything less than very productive

Kaplan videos are highly used among IMGs, and less frequently AMGs, They are very good but are very time consuming, and most AMGs have enough background knowledge which makes the length of the videos a bit unnecessary. I used them for maybe a few subjects, and they are indeed very good, but consume too much time for me. If you learn from them and feel that they are helpful, then continue their use, conversely, if they are too time consuming, then by all means there are better sources.

IMG here: I used Kaplan High Yield videos initially. However, as I became more proficient and comfortable with the material, I watched the videos again just to see if I missed something important. Found them to be a loathsome waste of precious time as they don't go into enough detail for me. Will not be renewing. They are useful up to a point; after that they're a huge financial drain.

Thats a bit strong. I thought the lung lectures were very well done and had material not covered at all by its book. Same with biochem excluding the molecular stuff.

I'm sorry sanj238, didnt think my opinion was worded strongly enough to move you to Kaplan's defense. The biochemistry lectures were practically the same as its condensed lecture notes. Neurology lectures had less content than the book. But, you know, whatever floats your boat. And I hope you get more use out of your subscription than I did of mine.
