How does the 4-book set from Kaplan (dont know how often they update the material, but I am talking about ones that are green color, bought December 2007) compare with other review books? I have seen guys on the forum say that the path section is useless. What about other sections?

I dont care whether it is 'subject-based' or 'system-based' and just want to find the better ones out there.

First Aid 2008 gives Kaplan an A-, so I want to know opinion here on the forum.

Thanks.

I used the 2005 version of the Kaplan Home Study Review Series for my 10/07 exam, and thought that they were awesome. They were my main resource and, in retrospect, I'm glad that I made this decision😀.

Regarding pathology: Actually, I particularly liked the path sections, and thought that they were better written/organized than BRS path. They had actual pictures and, amazingly, contained more path info than BRS (i know this because I read the BRS chapter after reading each path section in Kaplan, and realized that Kaplan actually had more path).

I think that you made an excellent choice, and that using these books in combination with 2-3 solid question banks (Kaplan, USMLEWorld and Robbins Review of Pathology) should lead to a stellar performance in Step 1.

Here is a thread discussing this same issue: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=473185

Good Luck
