Kaplans v/s NBDE part I

I am starting this thread to know the scores of people who have taken kaplans online tests.
It would be helpful if u also post ur approx scores of kaplans test and then that of NBDE part I(that u scored,)so that we can decide our standing before taking our final NBDE tests.
Ur help would be appriciated.

que.Is there someone who has any idea abt the type of que asked in Part I as compared to that in kaplans que bank.?
Its coz i am finding them a lil more difficult,so was wondering if thats the level asked in actual exarm.
Someone please help....

even i felt that kaplan qs r difficult when compared 2 board exam qs
study kaplan n dental decks thoroughly n do question papers as many as possible
there r more than 30% of the repeats from previous question papers
try 2 concentrate more on these
dont bother about kaplan questions. if u have time u can do it once
i didnt feel that it is very useful

I found the Kaplan questions to be difficult too, but they are good to understand the subject. we can answer a lot of questions in the exam if we go through them at least once and try to understand.

Hey Dushyant,

I had take the online Q bank from Kaplan. Other than DAOH no other subject was even close to what actually came on my exam. It was helpful to understand the subject to some extent. But trust me you really dont loose much if you dont take it. All my friends told me the same thing before I took it....but stupid me I still went ahead and bought it 🙄 The pattern of ques on this Qbank are almost equivalent to what one sees in USMLE step 1.They are way too complex and scare the hell out of you because you think Kaplan wud make a Qbank with like ques that show on boads....no no. That was not true.

Did you do your dentistry in mangalore or are you from there?
you need not do the Kaplan Q bank. It is more helpful for your to concentrate on the preavious question papers and the kaplan review book. I concentrated just on these and was able to score 91.

This kaplan tests were lowering my sprits,,,,,,,i have my exam in 15 days and was really worried.But now i think it shd be fine.

can u advice my for my part 1 as i am taking it again....first time i concentrated on review material and previous released que...i read deck too but my major conce wasnt decks....................now i have change my stratergy to combine decks and kap book but keeping the dental decks as my bible....of course the ques are always there...can advice me?

Preeti I can understand your situation I was in the same postion 2 months ago. I retook my exam and scored 93 this time. I did the same as you did for the first time but in the second time , I gave more emphasis on dental decks 0f 2006 but nothing come from that. I will say many of my questions were directly from released and unreeased exams. So do it by heart also usmle first aid. Specially its pathology , physiology , micro and biochem. Dont worry about kaplan questions you will be fine. I hope this helps.

thanx a million for ur advice...but i just have one more question for u...when i ask my senoirs for preparation they said combine both dental deck and kap book material and prepare ...it is very good idea but that is consuming a hell of time...can u suggest some thing..yeah as u said i will follow the questions very closely...waiting for ur reply
