Hello!
I have officially been accepted to both CCOM and KCOM. These were my two top choices and I am having a very tough time deciding between the two. They both have great campuses and great programs in general. I know that CCOM has better rotation sites but at the same time KCOM costs 15k less a year, plus rent is way cheaper (and who can turn down a free ipad).

I am someone who generally likes to spend more of his time studying on his own then going to class. In general I dont get much from class that I cant take away from powerpoints a teacher handed out or a recording on 2x speed. So my question is essentially:

CCOM students, I believe note packets are handed out for every class and not every class is recorded? Is it possible for me to learn everything from solely the notes or is the material not explained well enough in the notes alone and realistically I would have to go to class to understand everything?

KCOM students, I know every class is recorded but are notes/powerpoints given for every class? Would I be able to learn solely from the notes if they are provided or would I have to watch the lectures?

Thank you!

@songl4a I have already taken all of those ideas into account. This is post is more about my learning style and which school would be better able to support it. But thank you!

CCOM student here, I barely go to class. Getting mostly A's. If you're good at studying on your own, then you'll be fine. But I gotta tell you, class is as much of a social experience as it is an educational one. I would recommend going the first few weeks just to get to meet some classmates.

How do current students feel about kcom

Sorry I didn't see this all sooner. KCOM 2nd year here. You've probably made your decision now, but in my opinion, follow the $$. All the schools I was accepted to had pretty similar tuition so money didn't affect my decision, but I have to say if I was accepted to a U.S. school that would eventually save me 60K (actually way more because cost of living here is dirt cheap), I'd do it no questions asked. Yes all is recorded and handouts+powerpoints are provided for all lectures. I've never bought a book (except pathoma as a supplemental resource), you don't need one. If something isn't explained in a way you understand, you can ask a friend, or ask google/youtube. There are loads of resources out there to fill in any gaps for you.

@doc111111 I love it here. Kirksville is small, but I feel the school has more than adequately prepared me. Do I wish we did less OMM this 4th semester? You bet. Other than that I have no major complaints.
