hey guys, I am scheduled for an interview on 01/11. I was wondering if any of you can tell me the best way to get there, and where would you recommend staying if not with a student. And lastly what should i expect from my interview?

The best way to get there depends on where you're starting from. If you are flying, it might not be a bad idea to look into flying directly into Kirksville. I believe the airline is US Air. Otherwise, most people fly into St. Louis or Kansas City and drive the rest of the way. If you are driving to Kirksville from your city of origin, PM me and I'm help you with directions.

As far as interview day goes...there are no tricks. You will find your interviewers to by quite layed back. Just be yourself. Try to have fun with it. Send thank-you notes to your interviewers. I would recommend writing them that day - either on the plane or even at KCOM. That way you can drop the notes in the mail right there!

Good luck.

Oh, and where to stay...I would recommend the Holiday Inn Express. Most students are really nice, but I always liked staying in a hotel because I found I was better able to relax and spend that evening on my time - rather than some else's.

Don't try to sell yourself, the school will do that for you...🙂 . Great admission staff, great experience. Laid back interview, totally enjoyed mine. you will have three interviews 2, 1 hr long and 1, 15 minutes long. After interview was over, I wished it had lasted long, i was really enjoying talking to my interviewers.

Good luck...

I guess I will be flying in. My consern is that being from Phoenix, AZ I have not dealt much with snow and I am little bit worry about having to drive in case it snows. Did you guys have to rent a car or what?

Fly into KC.

From KCI, take 435 East to 35 North...to 36 East, to 63 North.

It's a pretty easy drive.

Snow doesn't happen very often around here...and the roads you'll be on are fairly well travelled 4-lanes for the most part, so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

I'm sure there are some "shortcuts" to get from 435 to 35 without backtracking (like taking 152 East), but this might be best, just to keep the directions simple.

The interview is not stressful at all.

thanks guys, by the way do they have rental cars at the KC airport?

By the way does anyone knows the rate of acceptance/interview?

I was accepted about 48 hours after my interview. I think that their committee meets every week.

I am from AZ too, but from Flagstaff.
I flew in to Kansas City and rented a car since the weather was beautiful.
I would recommend not ahving a connecting flight. My flight from PHX to Denver was delayed and I almost missed my flight into Kansas City. This would have been a horrible disaster.
I would NOT recommend Budget rent-a-car, they are idiots and double charged me since I paid with ORBITZ first in advance and then again after I dropped off the car. I was double charge on 10/31 and STILL have not been refunded.

I stayed at the Comfort Inn, they give a discount rate for peeps interviewing at the school. They have a good breakfast and a map to get to the school.

If you are worried about weather and driving in snow, maybe the extra money to fly into Kirksville might be worth the peace of mind AND your safety!

as others have said, best interview I have experienced. Very comfortable, they seem genuinely concerned with getting to know you, not making you uncomfortable and then seeing how you react.
They seem to really care for their students. They called me less than a week from my interview to personally congratulate me.
I sent them my deposit already.

GOOD LUCK!

:luck:

How much is the deposit?

According to my check list in front of me...

$1000 Admission Fee which goes to tuition (due Dec 15th for me, but may be different for others)
$500 Pre-Registration Fee (due April 15th)
$500 Pre-Matriculation Fee (due May 15th)

Hello guys,
I know there was a thread about # of interviews vs # of acceptance for each DO school. I just can not find it anymore. Can anyone send me the link if you see it?

Another option for the flight is to fly into Quincy, Ill. I interview on the 8th and wanted to be able to spend Sunday exploring the area. Unfortunately, my first day of Winter Quarter is on the 5th and the 1 flight a day on weekends killed any hope of flying in (missing 1 day of class isn't a problem. Missing the first AND second days of class is).

Anyone else getting in early and want to meet on Sunday?
