Any current students have thoughts? I was set for KCOM for months now but received an offer off the waitlist for DMU yesterday. I know there are other threads like this but all seem to be from years ago.

Any help would be appreciated! I did like both schools during the interview. I feel like my overwhelming sense of welcome and attention that I enjoyed so much at KCOM may have simply been because I interviewed during the huge snow storm so only one other person showed up. I feel like it biased my viewpoint about the school a bit.

dude what a great situation to be in. both are great schools. IMO, its up to you man. were are you from, are any of the schools near your home, do you wanna live near your home or do you want a change of atmosphere. I would maybe look into the more minute differences bw the schools to help make your decision etc because both are such established programs. Are there any cost differences. Price should be your primary motivator here if you liked both schools and could see yourself at both, but i believe their both near eachother in price (i could be wrong). its something else if your oss and are deciding bw wvsom and lecom. but i dunno the price differences here. also i believe kcom is very rural where are dmu is in des moines which has more going on. what are your preferences.

Both are great schools, go wherever is cheaper. Cost of living in DSM and Kirksville are similar, but DSM is a little closer to civilization than Kirksville.

I am from Michigan and didn't get into my state school so both DMU and KCOM are pretty far away. DMU budgets 62K and KCOM 71K per year . It'd be nice to be around civilization but I'm still torn!

Make a list of things you find important about going to a particular school ( Cost, Family connections, Location, etc.) and compare from there. Which ever school has the most wins, that school will be probably the better choice for you.

I interviewed at both and thought the facilities at DMU were far superior to KCOM, especially the surgical skills lab and the simulated OR's.

I know that DMU allows you to do your 3rd and 4th year in MI, so you will only need to spend 2 years away from MI. I have done a lot of searching on these forums, and I haven't found anything negative about DMU. I got rejected from KCOM after submitting the secondary, so its hard for me to compare. 😱
