Has anyone gone through the Masters of Biosciences degree offered by KCUMB then matriculated into their medical school? They offer that program and I was wondering if anyone here has had an experience with it and can shed some light on the program. This is the only school I know so far that offers such a program. Are there other schools? Just asking?🙂
Thanks
FTD

Actually PCOM, OSUCOM, KCOM, and a few other schools offer a MS program which many have used to apply successfully to medical schools. Not all of them are one year programs though. I know KCUMB's is and I can't remember if KCOM is or not. I'm going to move this to the post-bacc forum since that is the more appropriate venue for your question. 🙂

I spoke to a matriculant at last night's white coating ceremony about this. He said that he had graduated from the COB and of the 17 graduates 16 matriculated into KCUMB-COM. The one who didn't was the class president and had other plans.

would anybody happen to know when is a good time to start applying to the cob

From the school's webpage:

Application to the KCUMB College of Biosciences can be made early August 2006 for the 2007 entering class. The following application materials must be mailed to the KCUMB Admissions Office:

A completed College of Biosciences application, found on the KCUMB Web site
A non-refundable application fee of $30, made payable to KCUMB
Three letters of recommendation from at least two senior sciences faculty and/or the provided evaluation form on the KCUMB Web site
All academic transcripts from the applicant’s college or university

It's a good school. My class landed some very competitive residencies. I will say that it is on the more expensive side. The starting class is paying like 37k first year. If it goes up at the same rate it did for us, it'll be 42 or so when they graduate. I'm doing family medicine.

KCUMB's tuition for the Post Bac program is how much????

I think tuition is around 20k for their masters program.

Does anyone know the acceptance trends for KCUMB's Postbacc program? MCAT scores etc...

I just called ruth and she told me that the average MCAT was 23 and GPA 3.2. The tuition is 23,000 a year.

Has anyone heard anything back from KCUMB regarding the bioscience program? I know that they started reviewing applications a week or two ago. They also said that they have 18 spots this year.

I just got a letter yesterday that I had an interview there but I've been accepted to a D.O. program already so I will more than likely turn it down. I applied in november and was one of the first applicants so letters are starting to go out. I heard there were 100 applicants of only 35 get interviews and 18 accepted. It's a great program and I have no doubt I would have gone there. But 5 years and 32K more is not as appealing for me. Good luck to everyone. This program is really good
