From what I've seen it seems fantastic. The curriculum is tried and true, its been used 7 years and is somewhat coveted by surrounding schools (KU is switching theirs this year to match up with KCUMB's) The campus is beautiful, the students are friendly. So far it seems the negatives are just location (urban Kansas City) and that it doesn't use the latest technology (no wireless as of yet and still utilizes mostly paper rather than internet). I'm gonna direct you to the same location as aforementioned. Not only does it have students for class of 2010, it has a lot of input from current students.

well, damn then im definitely considering it...i would like to be a part of something in its roots!! lol i hope students' inputs will be taken care of by the time i apply...thanks for the info!! btw kansas city is a beautiful city 🙂 ...

if ur considering med school in the kansas city area then KCUMB is the best one around. with the new research building and the new clinical research lab with the 10000 dolar state of the art manicans, if i was applying again i would def choose KCUMB again. KCUMB will dominate the medical/biomedical landscape of kansas city in the future if it hasn't already. peace.

I'm interviewing at KCUMB on April 4th. Funny thing is, I was invited before I even finished the supplemental app. Is this SOP (standard operating proceedure)?

yup many of us were invited for an interview before finishing the secondary...

My wife and I are both attending next year. I chose KCUMB not only because of the curriculum but also because of the feeling of openness and warmth from just about everybody who works there. I am actually in-state Iowa but the med school students here are hyper-competitive and extremely cocky.

KCUMB is less than six months away!

For those of you that got an invite before you finished your secondaries--was your MCAT score above their average (24) or was your GPA really high?

Yeah, mine was both. I had an MCAT of 28 and a GPA around 3.85. I have a feeling that their average GPA is going to be higher next year. My stats aren't THAT great, but they are above their average - and I felt somewhat insecure at interviews, everyone their was real competitive with me scorewise.

Since my interview isn't until April, I obviously haven't been accepted (though that would be sweet). But I have a 3.39 cumm & ~3.2 Science (including grad school and some post-bacc stuff) and MCAT's of 34 and 32 (actually the first MCAT should be 36, I maxed out the verbal and they couldn't distinguish between 13 and 15)

Well I feel plain stupid compared to everyone else then. I got a invite before completing the secondaries. MCAt 26 and GPA 3.4

That just shows they liked you as a person even more, right? 😛

I think your stats are good, I'm just trying to compare my current gpa and estimated MCAT score just to see if I could get an interview before secondaries also. I'm applying in the 2007 cycle.

Then I would apply ASAP when the ACOOMAS or whatever is opened. KCUMB stated that almost everyone that got invites early got accepted. So I interviewed around Sept and everyone that interviewed on the round before us was offered a spot!

LOL Yeah, I was all excited the other day because I finished my personal statement, so I decided to start the AACOMAS application. I posted a question about it and someone told me that the 2007 cycle hadn't been started yet so anything I put on there was going to be deleted. I had my transcript request in the mailbox so I had to hurry and take it out because I would have had to resend it! 🙂 Thanks for the advice though, I'll be sure to check the AACOMAS website to see when the new cycle starts.
