Recently did a peer review where the pain physician (sounded retired) advised that I keep a copy of the billing codes with the patient info and my signature in case one of my procures is billed incorrectly by the hosptial.

many one else do this. Is it necessary if I sign a note in the EMR already with said cot codes. Anyone ever hear of this coming in handy for the physician in case of a chart audit?

I don't, but I know some old timers that do. If you bill through your EMR, this should all be date/time stamped anyway.

My scheduler scans all the documents into the EMR. Has helped me a couple times when the billers have actually changed my codes without asking me first then have the gall to ask me why the claim was denied and what I can do to help. Really nice to point back to my document.

This is exactly what the guy was talking about.
