I am interviewing at Kent State soon. Any current students want to share the pros and cons of the school? I would really appreciate any advice or insight you can give me.

Kent is one of the larger programs which arguably is both a plus and minus; however the other positives are that both the faculty and students are not cut-throat; it's a friendly environment. The facilities are top-notch. The area is upscale, safe, low cost of living. Lots of good externships and connections to area hospitals. Bad: most housing is at least a 15min drive from campus

All just my opinions of course.

Pros: Very low cost of living/housing can be found relatively close to school in safe areas. Strong academic training. Strong clinical skills training.

Cons: You're in Cleveland so prepare for bad roads and even worse weather. Limited surgical exposure/training in terms of externship/residency prep, too much time spent in clinic and other pointless rotations rather than allowing students to visit residency programs (which given the residency shortage you will find is actually one of the most important things a school can do for you) , large class size, still in a transitional phase from OCPM to Kent.

Pro: Safe area not too far from downtown Cleveland. Library has quiet rooms for studying and large grounds if you like to study outside instead. State of the art classrooms and anatomy lab. Teachers are fair. Students usually live close to each other so finding a car pool is easy.

Con: Traffic Cameras (SCHOOL ZONE IS 20 MPH!!!! NOT 21). Growing pains, transitioning from OCPM to KSUCPM (policy related).
