Keyhole question

I just took the first midterm from kaplan, and im having trouble with keyholes still. i got 15/15 on all the other sections except for pattern folding which i got 9/15 (but i ran out of time and guessed on the last 7 questions). on keyholes i got only 8/15. at this rate it looks like i should just randomly guess because i would do better lol.

any advice/tip/help?

Kaplan does a decent job explaining Keyhole. Try to create the projections (top, front, side)..if you can't imagine projections, try to crush the object the way they say is Kaplan - crush empty soda can. Projections should work.

take the object your looking at, a soda can for example.

if you lay it down horizontally, and crush it, it's projection will be a rectangle. Therefore, your keyhole will be a rectangle.

if it is laying down and the top of the can is facing you and you crushed it, the projection would be a circle. Therefore, your keyhole will be a circle.

so for the soda can you have two possible keyholes, a rectangle and a circle; and we figured these projections out by imagining that we smashed the can against the ground when it is facing in that position...hence smashing the can method 😎
