This is for the people who have applied in the past (even last year for this fall).

As you probably know I'm applying for the fall of 2003. I plan on doing my application in the beginning of June and making sure all my crap is done then. Mid-June to July 5th I'm going to India, so is this going to screw me up in terms of checking my status, updating my AADSAS app or receiving secondary forms, or will I have time when I get back? Before I leave should I be checking w/aadsas and should I notify schools that I'm applying to that I will be away for 2.5 weeks? I'm really worried and hope I don't miss anything while I'm away but I really don't have much choice in the matter? I'm getting worried, what do you guys think? 🙁 😕

That will not affect you. I applied in August and I recieved interviews to all the schools I applied to except one so far. The earlier the better but 2 weeks late will not kill you. Do not worry so much SimSeema, you will get in next year. Do well on your DAT and the schools will be asking permission to accept you!

maybe I didn't pose my question right. I am going to apply early (first week of June), but then mid June I'm leaving for 2 weeks. Isn't important to call aadsas like every week and check up on your app and how long does it take to get secondaries from schools? I guess what I'm saying is, my application will be done by the time I leave, but will I miss out on any important stuff (like aadsas sending you that confirmation sheet)...

maybe i'm just a worrywart? 🙄

After you send out your application it usually takes about a month to hear anything back from the service. What you can do is when you leave the states just give them a call every now and than and just make sure that they recieved it and so forth. There is no real checking involved. The only time that you will have to call them is when you send them letters of rec. because you want to make sure that they are sending them to the schools you applied. That was my big problem. They did not recieve them for about 2 months. It was not my professors fault either. You will be fine especially since you plan on sending it in before you leave. Keep in touch with them and your all set! I hope I answered it for you this time.

You will recieve your secondaries as soon as the service sends out your app. Which takes about a month or so. I did not send in my secondaries right away. Just be sure to have them all in by August or right when you come back from India.

If you are so worried, why don't you buy several phone cards and call aadsas from India!(I hope that didn't sound rude) Two weeks is not going to be an issue. Just make sure that you send everything with a return receipt - so that you will be assured that aadsas has received all of your necessary information. Don't worry so much! Just apply early in June.

Dont worry be happy... in India there are plenty of phone boxes for you to call America for resonable rates... another option that you may have is perhaps a relative who isnt going to India with you... you could have them call and check status I suppose... added stress will not make your application process any easier... just relax and be confident and all will be fine... GOOD LUCK... <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" />

Thanks guys! I feel much better now 🙂 🙂
