Anyone know why estriol is a sign of fetal well being? Thanks for your help. :luck:

just a thought...

as it is the form of estrogen secreted by the placenta, it may be indicative of the functionality of that structure; indicating that the placenta is working correctly and such.

Becuase 16-DHEA-sulfate is made by the fetus' adrenal cortex and liver, which then goes to the placenta and gets desulfated and aromatized to estriol, which then enters the mother's circulation. So, estriol is increased like 1000X in a mom, becuase it is comming from the fetus. So, it is the best makrer for fetus well being--because, its presence indicates that the fetus is synthesizing it, and the whole process is occuring without any disturances.

Anyone know the most common TE fistula? Is it proximal or distal esophagea atresia? Also when they say proximal or distal, what is it in comparison to? Thanks for you help. :luck:

It is proximal esoph atresia with a distal TE fistula. Proximal is talking about the blind esophugus pouch that is above the fistula. dude some of your questions are just pure laziness, like that is the easiest thing to look up. questions about udnerstanding a concept is one thing but questions like that are just lazy
