As a dental student, you hear a lot of complaints about unfair treatment, stress and abuse. The usual advise by fellow students is get a lawyer. This is not easy to do, if you want a competent education attorney.

Does anyone have a listing by state of attorneys that can handle cases against dental schools? I think everyone needs to understand how precarious life is for dental students.

Our advice was to keep your head down and if you needed to release steam, go to the bars and have a few drinks/vent. Then again, I don't know your personal situation. Gl

Wow, that sucks. It must be pretty bad if you need to get a lawyer involved. Is the school trying to dismiss or suspend you? If you feel that you truly have a case against the school, I would start by contacting your local lawyer's association or the American Bar Association to see if they can recommend a lawyer that's familiar with the education system. I'm curious to hear what happened to lead to this potential lawsuit, but I'm sure you would prefer to keep it confidential. Anyways, good luck.

It would be a great service to all dental students to have a listing by state of attorneys able and willing to take on dental schools. This is a very specialized area of education law and every dental student needs to know that problem.

The US Department of Education Office of Civil Rights is infested with bureaucrats who will not investigate your problem. You have to provide them all the facts before they will decide IF they will mediate.

If you get dismissed before you get your degree, then you are out of luck! You will be unemployed and up to your neck in debt. Make a point to take the dental hygiene exam or something as insurance. You can get screwed by one lousy assistant professor passing a subjective judgement against you.
