Kroger New Pharmacist Vacation Eligibility

Do any of you other Kroger pharmacists understand how the whole vacation thing works? Originally, I thought that new RPh hires were eligible for 2 weeks vacation only after being licensed for one year.

Now, I've heard from a couple of colleagues that you're eligible for 1 week vacay after only 6 months of licensure, and that the 2nd week becomes available after your one year anniversary as an RPh.

Thanks to anyone that can clarify this - I just realized my vacation schedule is due VERY soon, and am hoping someone can help me figure it out.

What you heard is correct. If you're a new hire, you are eligible for 1 week vacation after 6 months of being an RPh for Kroger and you get the 2nd week after one year. So you can request your first week's vacation any date after your 6 month hire date.

How does Kroger work vacation schedules? Do you have to plan out 6-10 months in advance?

You have to submit your vacation dates in December 2011 for the vacation year of 2012. So basically gotta plan way ahead in advance, which sucks. Plus, you have to take your vacation one week at a time and it has to be during Kroger's work week schedule, which is Sun-Sat; you can't break up the days like if you want to only take 3 days off.

Many hospitals have much better paid time off packages. My hospital has 25 days of paid time off not including sick time. We are asked to give at least 2-3 weeks notice for mini vacations and a month notice for longer vacations.

What is the point of spending all those years in school if you do not enjoy what you do, put your knowledge to use, learn something everyday, and are given the flexibility/time to enjoy life outside of work....🙂

Is two weeks considered 14 days or 10 days??? Where I work we get 16 days of PTO but we get no sick days.

Wouldnt this be a better question to ask your cordinator or corp HR? Kroger is a big company and each little divison could have slightly different policies.
