Kypho biopsy question

Upcoming case needs a biopsy. What orders do you typically put in for the pathology lab? They want specific diagnosis codes and tests. Won’t exactly accept “look at this bone marrow and tell me if there’s cancer and what type”. Thanks.

lol! Same question I was about to post. I have a neurosurgeon I work with and he wants me to bone bx every kypho on our shared patients.

Yes. Formalin. Dx: osteoporosis vs malignancy.

Ok I just bought some prefilled formalin cups. Less than $100 for 96 cups. But they are mostly all going to never get used.

I have always sent it fresh, Dx: bone, look at this bone marrow and tell me if there’s cancer and what type.
