Hi all, I'm just wondering if med schools look heavily into the lab portion of the the general biol/chem/physics courses?

If I can avoid re-taking these lab courses, I really would. Thanks!

What grades did you get the first time around?

I think, C's need to be retaken.

Oh, I know. Trust me!

Hopefully this doesn't come off as a whining view, but my experience with physics lab was horrible in undergraduate.

There was such disconnect between lecture material and the stuff we were trying to do in those lab courses. Many times, labs were followed by a mini-lecture by the TA because even they acknowledged that, some of the stuff in the lab are not covered by the lectures. That's why I hated those physics labs, and more reasons why I'm not looking forward to it. BUT, if that's what it takes, then that's what it takes.

I have similar opinion for Ochem labs, you just sit there for 4hours boiling stuff.

I actually loved OChem labs, but that's just me.

As for Physics labs, yes, there was a disconnect, that's true. We usually had a mini-lecture before the lab, and then the actual lab. Honestly, I hated Physics labs and dreaded going there. BUT! Just do what you have to do! Go retake those grades and you'll never have to worry about those Physics labs again 🙂 Except maybe for a portion of it that will be relevant for the MCAT.

I LOVED Ochem. But then the lab part, I was like "what the hell, I'm just boiling stuff here..."

And don't get me wrong, I don't shy away from lab work (4 years in academia, got my name on a paper, will emphasize that part when I apply for med school :naughty: ), just that physics labs felt disconnected from the lectures, and Ochem was 4hours of boiling stuff. 😴
